  • DDNA members receive DDNA News Network, the association's quarterly newsletter. Features include articles on the activities of the association and its members, a report from the president, news from the regional networks, and articles of interest to the DD nursing professional.   • DDNA members are eligible for reduced fees in certification application, testing, and certification renewal.

  • DDNA members are eligible for reduced registration fees for the association's annual conference. This spring meeting features educational programs focused on the practicing DD nurse.

  • DDNA has an established core of active networks located throughout the United States. These nurse networks provide a local/regional venue for nurse members to meet and share knowledge particular to their area.

  • DDNA members may nominate candidates and run for elected office in the association.

  • DDNA represents the membership in national nursing groups and professional organizations.

Mission Statement

The Developmental Disabilities Nurses Association (DDNA) exists to provide opportunities for exploration of common issues and concerns, education, and professional recognition to those nurses involved in the lives of persons with developmental disabilities.

Membership in DDNA is open to any registered nurses, licensed practice nurse, or licensed vocational nurse who holds a current license and who supports the goals and objectives of the association.
What does DDNA membership offer?
  • Promotion of the specialty so you are recognized by your colleagues, your employer, state nursing organizations, other professionals, and all of nursing

  • A pathway to network, locally and nationally, with other knowledgeable, interested nurses serving individuals with developmental disabilities.

  • An annual conference that produces top quality continuing education, as well as providing the forum to network with colleagues from a wide range of geographical and practice settings.

  • A certification process for developmental disabilities nursing that recognizes the importance of the specialty and improves the quality of services provided to individuals with developmental disabilities.
