President - Terry Broda, RN, BScN, PHCNP, CDDN
Terry has been a nurse in the field of developmental disabilities since 1993. She is presently a nurse consultant and educator in this field. A member of the nursing faculty at John Abbott College in Montreal, she has also lectured both at a national and international level, and has several publications to her credit in MR/DD. Her other work experience includes geriatrics, genetics, psychiatry, neurology and neurosurgery, with six years on a specialized epilepsy-monitoring unit at the Montreal Neurological Hospital. Most recently, she has graduated as a Nurse Practitioner in Primary Health Care. In January 2007, she will take on this new role, in affiliation with Queen's University in Ontario, continuing her work in the field of DD. She is the first nurse in Quebec and the second nurse in Canada to obtain certification from the DDNA.
President-Elect - S. Diane Moore, BSN, RN, CDDN
Ms. Moore is the co-owner of Innovative Outcomes, Inc., a privately held Texas based company which provides a comprehensive array of services to individuals with developmental disabilities in residential and natural home settings. She has over 23 years nursing experience, 20 of which are in the field of developmental disabilities. She has been a member of DDNA since 1993 and has served as the First Vice President of DDNA since January 2002. In 1994, she co-founded DDNA of North Texas and served as the network President for six years. Her areas of interest include ensuring appropriate intervention and management for persons with challenging behaviors and developing quality health education programs for direct support staff.
Vice President - Kathy Brown, RN, BA, CDDN
Kathy has been working in the field of developmental disabilities for 31 years. She is a nurse consultant and co-director of special populations for Enloe Drugs, a pharmacy that has specialized services for the DD population. She has worked in the DD field for the last 31 years, 16 of which have been with the pharmacy. She helped start the Northern Illinois DD Network in 1994 and has served as president for the past 11 years. She has attended the DDNA national conference for the last 10 years and has been an exhibitor there as well. She helped craft legislation for medication delegation in Illinois and taught the course for 5 years, training over 600 nurses. She is very interested in developing DDNA networks , increasing membership for DDNA, and increasing the number of nurses sitting for the certification exam. She has presented at several national conferences. She feels this is a very exciting time for DDNA and is anxious to begin her term.
Secretary - Richanne Cunningham, RN, QMRP, CDDN
Richanne has been specializing as a nurse in the field of Developmental Disabilities for over 11 years and has been passionately involved with the Special Olympics for almost 40 years. Currently a Nurse Service Coordinator and Qualified Mental Retardation Professional (QMRP) for ARCA, a non-profit organization providing residential supports for individuals with DD, Richanne oversees two ICF/MR homes. In 1999, Richanne helped to create the New Mexico Developmental Disabilities Nurses Association and has served as both Secretary and Treasurer for NMDDNA for many years. She is supportive of education, and has assisted in the development of various types of training, such as the copyrighted Certified Medication Aides training presentation.
Treasurer - Linda Tupper, RN, CDDN
Linda has been a member of DDNA since 1995. She is the current President of the Mid-Florida Developmental Disabilities Nurse Network and also served as Treasurer. She is a member of the American Association of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (formerly AAMR) and an active member of the Health Action Group. She has served as Health Care Chair for the Southeast AAIDD and is currently the General Chair. With close to 20 years in the field of Developmental Disability nursing, she has worked in both facility and community settings. She currently works for Delmarva and is the RN Consultant for the Florida Statewide Quality Assurance Program for Individuals on the Home and Community Based DD Waivers. Linda is a frequent presenter at both local and national conferences and promotes the field of developmental disabilities nursing at every opportunity.
