Get involved in DDNA
DDNA's strongest asset is its membership's willingness to share skills, knowledge, and expertise. We encourage you to use this website to read the newsletter and the journal, to access the many I/DD-related resources, to participate in the forums, to learn about DDNA-sponsored educational activities, and to find out about and join your local chapter or network. You can become an active participant in a number of ways:
Volunteer for a committee
Take your first steps to an active leadership role in your professional association by joining a committee. Just fill out the DDNA Interest Form below. Committees include: Education, Chapter/Network, Certification, Newsletter, New Member Welcome Committee, Fundraising, and Lending Library.
Attend the Annual Conference
Join DDNA for its exceptional annual education conference. This is a great chance to get I/DD-specific nursing CE and to network in person with nurses from all over the United States and Canada. For conference info, go to the conference page.
Be a speaker or volunteer at the Annual Conference
DDNA members are the experts in the nursing care of persons with I/DD. Please share what you know! Would you like to make a presentation at the DDNA Annual Conference (conference attendance is free for speakers)? Visit the conference speaker page. Would you like to submit a poster presentation? Visit the poster proposal page. If you would like to recommend a great speaker, contact us via the DDNA Interest Form below. If speaking isn't your thing . . . you can contribute to the Annual Conference as a volunteer. We always love our volunteers! Sign up to volunteer via the DDNA Interest Form below.
Write an article for the quarterly newsletter or journal
The News Network, DDNA's quarterly newsletter, is the place to go to find the latest news in I/DD nursing, links to helpful new resources, Chapter/Network updates, certification news, and articles of interest. Contribute to the newsletter by sending news items, web links, and articles. You do not have to be a professional writer - we've got editors. Share your experiences and what you know with other I/DD nurses. And you can say that you have been published! For more information on the newsletter, go to the newsletter page. If you would like to write a peer-reviewed article for the International Journal of Nursing in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, visit the journal page
Contribute to DDNA's online resources
DDNA members have access to more than 1000 resources on topics of interest to I/DD nurses on the resources page. If you could like to contribute a new resource, send us the link via the DDNA Interest Form below.
Start a local chapter
Is there no local DDNA chapter in your area? Request information about how to start a local chapter via the DDNA Interest Form below.
Increase DDNA's financial resources - painlessly
By using GoodSearch to search the internet, you can support DDNA without spending a penny. Each time you search the internet, GoodSearch will make a charitable donation to DDNA.
Do you like to shop (and we know you do!)? Go to GoodShop. Designate DDNA as your charitable cause. Target, BestBuy, Amazon, HomeDepot, Apple, and seven hundred other popular stores will donate a percentage of their profit to DDNA when you make an online purchase from them through GoodShop. GoodShop stores also offer many deals and coupons via their websites, so you can save money, too.
DDNA will use the money from GoodSearch and GoodShop to develop and distribute free continuing education in I/DD nursing.
Run for a seat on the DDNA Board of Directors
This is the ultimate commitment in being an active DDNA member! DDNA's Board of Directors makes the decisions that affect the operations and future of the Association. They meet quarterly for four days a time, and monthly via a web conference. They also chair the certification and chapter/network committees. These are elected positions. For more information about the Board of Directors, go to the elections page.
