Chapter Statement

The Massachusetts chapter of the DDNA (MADDNA), which was previously known as the Bay State Developmental Disabilities Nurse Network (BSDDNN), was established in December 1995 by a group of nurses who were among the first in the nation to receive certification as Developmental Disabilities Nurses. In 2004 the BSDDNN merged with the Developmental Disabilities Nurses Coalition (DDCNC) since both groups shared a common interest in the goals and mission of the DDNA. The two groups joined forces to expand the opportunities for nurses to enhance their professional growth in order to assure the highest quality of life for people with developmental disabilities throughout their life span.

In May 2009 the BSDDNN was officially inducted as a chapter and became the Massachusetts Chapter of the DDNA. MADDNA provides a local/regional forum for nurse members to meet and share knowledge particular to their area of practice. The chapter is committed to broadening the knowledge of all nurses and other professionals involved in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, as well as all other interested parties.
